Our Purpose |
|
The specific purpose of BAD COMPANY is to provide the highest level of training for San Francisco Bay Area Youth in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Modern Dance, Dance Composition, Classical Variations, Pas de Deux, Dance Performance, the related disciplines of music, sculpture, painting, costume, set and lighting design and opportunities to work with first class professional choreographers and master teachers within a structure that matches that of a professional ballet school and company. By providing affordable after school programs in the aforementioned disciplines our primary goal will be to replace activities lost to San Francisco Bay Area youth because of recent budget cuts which have eliminated many necessary after school programs once sponsored by local, county, state and federal funds. The effectiveness of after school programs in reducing the problems of teen drug and alcohol abuse, teen pregnancies and gang related activities are well documented. Through supervised involvement in bringing performances, lecture demonstrations, workshops and participation at community events these young people will gain a wide range of performance art knowledge while experiencing the joy and importance of community service. Our structured programs will foster self-discipline, self-reliance and self-esteem earned through achievement, which are the best tools for successful and productive lives. BAD COMPANY will provide a safe haven where the youth of today and tomorrow can make the wise choices that lead to happy and productive lives, while at the same time sharing the joy of dance with all peoples of the San Francisco Bay Area through a broad range of community outreach programs including, but not limited to, public performances, lecture demonstrations, open rehearsals and special workshops which BAD COMPANY will provide for schools, senior centers, and other agencies that serve the diverse needs of the San Francisco Bay Area.
